23rd December 2015

The International Association of Book-keepers has worked closely with marketing agency Reflect Digital to create a fantastic infographic designed to help you make the most out of your qualifications and skills on your LinkedIn profile. Studying and working towards earning your qualifications takes motivation, time and dedication so it is important to highlight your new skills on your CV and on your LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn is the most popular social media platform for businesses, employers and recruitment agencies. Employees now use LinkedIn to search for the right candidates for the job, making it easier than ever to start your career path.

So, how to feature your skills and qualifications under the best light?

‘Renovate’ your LinkedIn profile

Updating your LinkedIn profile in the correct manner can quickly highlight your skills to a huge audience and potential employers and businesses. So, first and foremost, you need to do it regularly.

1. Make sure your profile is up to date

Implement newly found best practices; update your profile with the recently-acquired qualifications; connect with more people who matters in your career; and so on – do those on regular basis.

2. Post regular updates

It is important not to stop there though, used regularly, politely and correctly your LinkedIn profile page can increase your exposure and help you develop your career. Post relevant industry news updates, anything you are passionate about in the business world and any new skills that you have picked up that you want to shout about.

The infographic below highlights tips on helping you not only to promote yourself, your skills and your qualifications through LinkedIn but also how to correctly promote your passion for bookkeeping and accountancy which will help advertise your dream career path and goals to a broad audience.

Once you have taken in the information learned in the infographic practice with LinkedIn and get to know the platform in a little more depth. So, let’s do it, shall we?

Three steps for creating a LinkedIn profile that stands out

These are three easy steps for creating a LinkedIn profile that rocks your skills and qualifications; it doesn’t have to be complicated! Let’s begin:

Step #1: Create a profile (duh!)

If you do not have a LinkedIn profile yet, you can easily set one up in around 10 minutes.

Step #2: Note the best practices and implement the most suitable ones for you

Take a look at other individual profiles and set yours up in a similar way but taking the tips you have learned on board.

Step #3: Follow thought leaders, influencers and potential employers

Follow industry and business pages that interest you – maybe you want to work there, maybe you just appreciate the posts they put out, follow as many as you like in order to stay inspired and motivated to succeed. Employers and recruitment agencies tend to often look at the pages you follow to find out a little more about you so keep it industry related for a higher chance of receiving messages and job interests from people.

Takeaway

Setting up a LinkedIn account is easy; growing and perfecting it is another story.  Follow the three simple steps and get started with your LinkedIn profile strong.

Remember, always be truthful with what you publish within your account: You are looking for future employers, business partners and investors – don’t ruin your chances with poorly crafted profile and – even worse – publishing false information in your profile.

Good luck, and don’t forget to follow me on Linkedin!
