10 Things I’m Grateful For in my Entrepreneurial Journey

25th March 2015

In my 11 years of entrepreneurial career, I never publicly share my gratitude toward the life-changing and journey-transforming people, events and situations. It’s better late than never – so here are the 10 things I’m grateful for in the ups and downs of my entrepreneurial journey.

I’m grateful for…

1. …the second chance

When I failed my offline business, my life is a mess. I was near bankruptcy, and I felt that my future was bleak. God has presented the opportunities for me to respond to – my second chance – and helped me stand on both of my feet and guide my way, through thick an thin.

2. …my supportive family

To go up against all odds, you need all the support you need – especially from your closest ones. I’m blessed with a supportive family, and I know I’m on my way to success for this reason.

3. …the opportunity to follow the journey of my mentors – and learn from them

I’m grateful to learn from Anita Campbell, Yaro Starak, John Chow, Joel Libava, Gary Vaynerchuk, Robert Kiyosaki, Brendon Burchard, Tim Ferriss, Lea Woodward, Pat Flynn and many other influencers who have inspired and/or transformed my business.

4. …the privilege to be location independent

I’m grateful for being able to run an online business and work on my business anytime I want, anywhere I go – thanks to those who have paved the way, especially Tim Ferriss.  I work from home by choice – but if I wanted to, I can travel the world and bring my business along with me.

5. …the naysayers and haters

Naysayers keep me focused to prove them wrong – to show them that I can do it. When I was started in online business, some people – including my parents – scratched their head knowing that I run a virtual business with no physical asset, other than my laptop.

Haters keep my feet grounded, and they are right (sometimes!) in assessing what I’m working on (despite being too harsh!) They keep me focused on my goal and step up in my effort in improving the quality of my work.

6. …the failures

If I didn’t fail my offline business, I wouldn’t start an online business. If I didn’t fail in many attempts to build successful websites, I wouldn’t be able to discover my current online business.

7. …the opportunity to finally find what I’m good at – and love doing it for a lifetime

Due to my failures, I have no confidence in what I can actually do to make a living. I hold an IT and MBA degree, but as many of us know it, degrees and credentials (almost) mean nothing in the entrepreneurship world. I feel like a total noob failing in my business ventures, and I don’t know whether I’m fit for entrepreneurship. Finally, 4 years into my entrepreneurial journey, I finally found out that online entrepreneurship is what I’m good at, and planning to do it for a lifetime.

8. …the ability to support my family from online income

Making money online was my focus when I started in online business arena 8 years ago.  I’m finally able to do that, and will continue to do that.

9. …the ability to connect with people from all over the world

I hired freelancers, and not a single of them is from the same country: Philippines, Canada and India.  My clients are mainly US, UK and India, but I’ve connected with clients from Russia, Israel, Malaysia, France, Germany and the Netherlands – to mention a few.  I’m grateful for the ability to connect with people worldwide, understanding the differences in my effort to make things work for us.

10. …the opportunity to build my business around my life, not the other way around

Finally, I am so blessed for being able to build a lifestyle business – a business that is built around my life, not the other way around. Even when I’m busy, I’m able to arrange things up to accommodate personal endeavours.  Even if I decided to travel the world, I can just bring my business with me.

Now over to you!

What are you grateful for?

I have shared what I’m grateful for.  How about you? What are you grateful for? Please share your gratitude with us, and let’s inspire others!
